AEJM Annual Conference

The Politicisation of Museums European Jewish Museums: Consequences and Responses

ESEMÉNY RÉSZLETES LEÍRÁSA

A részletes konferenciaprogram itt tölthető le.

The AEJM Conference 2018 The Politicisation of Museums. European Jewish Museums: Consequences and Responses will take place in Budapest from Sunday 18 until Tuesday 20 November. Join us at the Hungarian Jewish Museum & Archives for 3 days of talks, discussion and exchange!

The programme of the 24th edition of our Conference will explore the politicization of Jewish museums in Europe. How are our museums affected by the current political climate(s) in Europe and how does it influence our work as museum professionals?

Clive Gray, Associate Professor in Cultural Policy at the Centre for Cultural Policy Studies, Warwick University (UK) will explore The Politicisation of Museums in his keynote speech. He has published widely on cultural policy and the state, researching cultural policy, and the politics of policy-making in the museums sector. Gray’s latest book is The Politics of Museums (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015). In conversation with Leontine Meijer-van Mensch (Berlin), Emile Schrijver (Amsterdam) and Dariusz Sztola (POLIN), Mirjam Wenzel (Frankfurt) will further look into what this politicisation means for European Jewish museums.

In addition to the plenary sessions, the programme will include professional focus groups on leadership, curatorial practice and museum education. Delegates are invited to join a pre-conference curatorial tour of the new core exhibition of the Hungarian Jewish Museum & Archives and the Great Synagogue. Read the programme here.
